Where it started

We were at a conference that had put its programme online as a digital version of the paper brochure. It looked the part, but as one person next to us put it:

“It's so annoying that I can't just quickly check the programme. I have to flick through the digital brochure.”

That stuck with us. A digital brochure is still a brochure. People at a conference or weekend away just want to know what's on, where, and when, and they want to know it in a few seconds, on their phone.

Our own weekend away

Not long after, we began planning our own church weekend away. We wanted to offer a fully digital experience that was incredibly easy to use: no app to download, no account to create, just a link and the programme, always up to date.

It worked so well that we realised other churches and conferences could benefit from the same tool, so we set out to offer it to them at an incredible price point.

Why the rota is built in

As the weekend came together, we needed a way to manage rotas: who's leading, who's setting up, who's looking after the children's activities. We already had a church management system that could do rotas, but it wouldn't have been a great fit for an event like ours.

So we built rota management into the app itself. It lines up with the event programme, so organisers can assign people to roles right alongside the items they belong to. Volunteers can then see their own assignments quickly and easily in the app, without hunting through emails or messages.

Shaped around Christian events

GatherPoint.church isn't a generic event tool with a church logo added. The whole product has been shaped around, and for, Christian events: the needs we see in churches and charities delivering weekends away, residentials and big conferences, and the way those events actually run.
